Xerox introduced the N2125 and N2125b network printers as part of their rollout of new DocuPrint printers in February 2000. ACOM® released MICR versions of both models also in February 2000. In April 2000, IBM® released the Infoprint® 21 based on the same new 21-ppm Fuji-Xerox® engine used in the N2125 models. The N2125 printers have a monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages, the Infoprint 21 has a rated duty cycle of 100,000 pages per month.
The Xerox N2125b model is a non-networked version targeted at the sub-$1,000 base and otherwise has the same specifications as the N2125 model. Both models can print up to 21 ppm in simplex mode and 15 ppm using duplex mode. Targeted at small workgroups, the N2125 models were distributed through authorized Xerox resellers and dealers.
Both Xerox printers use the same consumables, which consist of a toner cartridge and a maintenance kit. The printers ship with a 10,000 yield toner cartridge which is also available as a replacement cartridge. A higher-capacity toner cartridge with a 15,000 rated page yield is also available. The maintenance kit has a rated yield of 200,000 pages and contains a fuser, three feed rollers, a bias transfer roller, and a cleaning cloth. The Infoprint 21 consumables available are a monocomponent toner cartridge with a rated yield of 15,000 pages and a usage kit rated at 200,000 pages.
