In March 2001, Lexmark released the C720 color laser printer. Geared toward the needs of a medium-volume workgroup, this photo-quality printer uses the fast, efficient Hitachi SL-1 engine. Printer speeds are 6 pages per minute (ppm) for four-color, 12 ppm for two-color highlight, and 24 ppm for monochrome, with the initial time to print 15 seconds. Maximum paper size is legal.
The Lexmark C720 cartridge offers an excellent opportunity for the remanufacturer. It has a limited number of components that need to be replaced each cycle, making this cartridge very easy to remanufacturer. An additional benefit is the potential for profitability - a potential that will increase over time as color laser printers become a standard in the market.
