On September 21, 1999, Lexmark International announced the release of the Optra T series of four laser printers. Promoted as faster, smarter and yielding better print quality than Lexmark’s Optra S products, the Optra T line appears to be the successor to Lexmark’s Optra S family. Several multifunction options for the new printers were also announced to release in November under the brand name OptraImage. This marked Lexmark’s entry into networked, multifunctional devices that are built around printers, adding major competition for HP and Xerox in this market.

Two new cartridges for the Optra T line accompanied the printer release. A standard yield cartridge and a high yield cartridge. Both have Prebate and non-Prebate versions. At its release, the high yield cartridge had the highest rated yield (25,000 pages) in the industry for office laser printers.

The cartridge looks like the Optra Se 3455 with the exception of the wiper blade assembly. The wiper blade assembly in the Optra Se 3455 cartridge has a conductive brush strip that is not present in the Optra T cartridge.
