In November 2005 Fuji-Xerox introduced the DocuPrint C525A color printers. OEM rated print speeds were 5 color pages per minute (ppm) and 25 ppm black and white, with an average duty cycle of 10,000 pages per month.
The DocuPrint C2090FS MFP version was introduced in January 2006. With print, copy, scan and fax features it was offered as the perfect workhorse for small workgroups. Print speeds are the same for the printer and MFP versions, but the duty cycle was increased to 45,000 for the C2090FS. Both models utilize the same supplies set, made up of four toner cartridges and one drum unit.
Several other OEMs also launched their own versions based on the C525A print engine, including Dell (3100CN), Epson (AcuLaser C1100), and NEC (MultiWriter 1700C). Supplies for all brands are nearly identical, but are not interchangeable.
The C525A and C2090FS ship with 1,500 page yield color and 4,000 page yield black toner cartridges. Replacements are available in 4,000 page yield for all colors, including black. All toner cartridges require chips for the printers to function correctly.
