The Canon PC 300, 310, 320, 325, 330, and 330L copiers, all based on the same engine, were introduced from 1994 to 1995. The compact, desktop size made these printers very attractive for small office or home office environments. The size and shape of the toner cartridge is very similar to the VX cartridge used in the HP 5P/6P laser printers. Although the cartridges are not interchangeable, some of the aftermarket parts and components are the same: toner seal, wiper blade, recovery blade, replacement PCR, and some foam/felt components. The PC330 doctor blade is comprised of a plastic molded piece attached to the stamping, making it noticeably different from the VX doctor blade.
The PC 770 copier was introduced in 1994, offering an increased copy speed of 12 cpm, compared to the 4 cpm speed of the PC300 series of copiers. Also compact like the PC330, the PC770 was ideal for small offices or home offices. This copier features a dedicated toner cartridge that uses 50 grams more toner than the PC330 cartridge, but uses several aftermarket replacement components that are used in the PC330: toner seal, wiper blade, and doctor blade repair foam.
In October 1999, Canon introduced the PC900 series of personal copiers the
PC980, PC950, and the PC920. The PC980 and PC950 models have copy speeds of 13 letter-size copies-per minute and 11 legal-size cpm. The PC920 has a copy speed of 10 cpm-letter and 9 cpm-legal. All three models offer Photo and Toner save modes and use the Canon E-40 toner cartridge (high yield) and Canon E-20 cartridge (low yield).
