In July 2014, Brother introduced a line of over 10 monochrome laser printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) that include the DCP-L2500 digital copier-based MFP, the HL-L2380 laser printer and the MFC-L2740 laser MFP. Print speeds were OEM-rated from 26 pages per minute (ppm) up to 32 ppm, and duty cycles at 10,000 pages per month.
The supplies set is made up of a toner cartridge and separate drum unit. Replacement toner cartridges are available in 1,200 page standard yield and 2,600 page high yield versions. SKUs vary by geographic market, and no chip is needed on either the toner cartridge or drum unit. However, a flag or “reset” gear must be installed correctly on the toner hopper for the printer to function correctly.
