Although the cartridges we offer as replacements for the CE505X (002-01-SE505X/CWH-05X) & CF280X (002-01-SF280X/CWH-80XK) are physically identical & can be easily installed into either the P2055 & M401 printer families, there are functionality tradeoffs due to the chip on each.
; 002-01-SE505X/CWH-05X when inserted into an M401 (CF280X)
• Printer Display = “Non-HP, Ready”
• The SSP will show that a CE505X is installed and suggest this as the replacement cartridge. It should refer to the CF280X & this messaging cannot be altered through the cartridge’s life cycle. (If a CF280X is installed after the CE505X, regardless of the SSP’s recommendation, all will return to normal with the CF280X as the recommended cartridge.)
• The CE505X cartridge will function as the CF280X with proper toner tracking until the end of life providing the end user with a “Replace” message accurately.
; 002-01-SF280X/CWH-80XK when inserted into a P2055 (CE505X)
• Printer Display = “Unsupported Black Cartridge” The end user must press “OK” to accept & continue printing. However, after clearing this message, the display will alternate between “Ready” & “Unsupported Black Cartridge” every 15 seconds.
• The SSP will show that a CE505X is installed when actually a CF280X is installed.
• The cartridge will function as the CE505X with proper toner tracking until the end of life providing the end user with a “Replace” message accurately.
